It's probably best to have a professional do it unless you have the skills and the tools. These parts need to be sanded, primed and painted (with color matched paint) for best results. The engine bay gets pretty hot and you don't want to just spray on any old paint without the proper prep. If you go to a body shop they would probably do it for around $100 I would guess.

i would recommend doing it yourself. if you can hold a spray can in your hand, then you can probably paint it successfully. i started to sand mine before i primed it, but the plastic is so soft that i almost wound up scratching it. so basically i primed it and then painted it with dupli-color paint from advanced auto parts. you can also use mirage paint from autozone. while the temps get incredibly high in the engine bay, i have had mine painted for over 5k miles and there are no blemishes in the paint (and believe me im no professional painter). numerous people on this board and others have painted their own stuff. here are some pics of my process. i switched from an intial grey primer to a black primer to bring out more of the dark green (because the paint flips from green, purple, to blue). also, if you have a cs, im planning on repainting mine to match my engine bay so i can help you with an exact color match.

the final product.
p.s., if u paint it yourself make sure to place something at one end of the engine cover to keep it level and try to spray as evenly as possibly. and make sure to use a decent clear coat to protect the paint and make it shine.

whoa, 80 and 40?. I used that to sand my plenum. For the plastic use like 300 or higher to sand it. I would use 600. and then use 1500 before you apply the paint and clearcoat. Good luck.
