seen have always been on forced induction vehicles- i work for Dodge and
the stock 5.9L diesel came with one in the early 2000-01 trucks because
they had a vent tube before that would drip oil on the ground and make a
mess-then after they added the cans it was much cleaner until the
owner or the mechanic forgot to empty it and then it overflowed and
would blow back onto the radiator and would clog up the fins and cause
the trucks to overheat(the can was mounted in front of it behind the grille)so Dodge dropped that design and went back to the vent tube.
i have seen some srt-4 neons with the cans but have never seen one
on a NA vehicle-please help describe the benefit or theory on how it
will improve and i may look into it.

I guess nobody had any feedback on my question about catch can
on a NA engine.
I was wondering if i should consider getting an oil pan spacer that has
fittings built in for oil cooler-maybe having extra capacity and oil-cooling
may help with my usage problem.

I will comment with my limited experience. GET ONE! You don't have to have FI to use a catch can. The way our VQ's are designed puts the oil blow by back into combustion chamber, clogging crap up and causing buildup. This is what I am going to add once my Kinetix V+ shows up.
Also, my 2004.5 with an air intake (as the only mod lol), is consuming oil and my dealership didn't question a thing about mods. Helping a few of the employees might have helped, but most of them drive customized cars anyways.
They started a consumption test last week.

I thought i would bring back this thread from the dead and report the latest info. My oil consumption problems got worse and worse over time and i bitched to the dealer enough to get them to finally listen and entertain my case. The consumption had grown to 3 qts in 3k miles as of this summer and was getting tired of dealing with it so they did the consumption test and saw i was not crazy. They had me get them all of my service history and they had to check compression and pull off a valve cover to inspect one of the bearings on the camshaft they said. I faxed them my invoices for service(perfect records never more than 100 miles over 3k miles for oil changes and always early on other maintenance) and they verified the engine was f'ed up and they got approval Wednesday to replace the engine assembly under my Nissan max care service contract with $50 deductible.
They tried to give me some last minute bullcrap about my engine running too lean from my modifications saying that may have contributed to it-i said that is crap because i have no check engine light on and no codes for engine running too lean and always have been told the ecm can adjust up to 10% + or - with factory controls for fuel needed, i have only the usual stupid bolt-ons anyway. They had removed the spark plugs for the compression test and noticed all 6 were white on the tips, that is what brought up the comment.
That is the scoop, after a little over a year i am finally getting some resolution to my problem.

ok, i got the car back last night, they finished installing the long block with no problems that i can tell so far, engine sounds quiet and seems to run stronger than before(possible reduced compression from ring issues)
they say the synthetic oil may have caused the problem-i started out on the first oil change with synthetic-they said to wait next till 10k miles before switching over this time. i did that on my last car but i figured this being a "sports car" i might want to start off with it(vipers and srt-8 hemi
charger/challengers recommend synthetic from the beginning as well as
crossfire srt-6 and caliber srt-4)
