Does anyone know exactly what the factory drive shaft weighs in the Z? What is it made of? Are there lighter aftermarket drive shafts?

 

the Z driveshaft is carbon fiber composite. pretty much making it lighter than anything you will find in the aftermarket. and why would you want to change the driveshaft that was specifically made for the car anyway?

 

i thought only the 06's up had the cf shaft....

 

That would be good to know Specv USMC. I have a 2005.

So much HP is lost through the drivetrain that you can sometimes make more power to the wheels with light weight flywheels, driveshafts, rims and tires than bolt-ons like intakes, exhaust, etc.

CF composite driveshaft has come on all 350Z's ('03 - up).....
