Exclamation Gear install Parts Question?

I have a question for you guys that have had gears installed.

Do I need this part for install? http://www.courtesyparts.com/350z-z3...5_778_798.html

Its part 38165m called "spacer housing" and its in front of the pinoin bearing, or do I need 38154 "washer adjust".

The place im going to wants me to get as much as I can since its good to replace this stuff while the diff is all taken apart.

Im buying ALL bearings but the stuff around the pinion gear where not sure about.

thanks a bunch guys!

What install kit do I need for the Nismo 4.08. Alot of people say that with the Nismo gears u dont need that much?? My diffs at 73,000 miles now. The oil has been changed every 20k and never comes out dirty. Do I really need bearings??

THe place installing it Gearworks said that to get the right preload on gears u need to replace the bearings. Is this true? Also he said sometimes that they can get destroyed when removing them.

at 73k miles you need install kits 1 and 2. You would not want to reuse any of the bearing/seals or bolts in the rear with that many miles. Yes your shop is right, it is not difficult to damage the bearings when removing them - which is another reason why you're best off buying new bearings and knowing all the important components in the rear are 100% new and perfect

all the install kit options are discussed on our site:

http://www.z1auto.com/prodmore.asp?m...ne&prodid=2833

the only part we don't supply, and cannot supply, are the shims. The reason is that every car is diffierent and there are 15 different shim sizes from Nissan and no way to know what size you will need till its reassembled and spec'd by the shop. Some people are able to reuse their existing shims, some people need to buy new shims. All these shims can be purchased from a local dealer

I added up everything I needed seperatly and its about the same price as your install kit 2.

But on the install kit 1 for 32.50 the price seems a little high for just those 3 parts. Is there something else included thats not mentioned? Sorry to question the price but this turned out to be a really expensive little mod. I REALLY hope its worth it!!

I think you'll find out pricing on the ring and pinion, and install kits more than competitive with even large dealerships. Plus, we keep most components on the shelf, and have supplied these exact parts to tons of members here
