Default Wideband O2 (UEGO) Installation / Simulator Question

Hello Everyone!

Got a question for you, that may have been answered before but i can't find the answer.

When installing the AEM UEGO Wideband O2, why do you have to weld a new bung? Can't you just replace the stock O2 Sensor with the Wideband and hook up the 0-1 Volt Stock simulator output to the stock o2 harness?

Thanks! Hopefully i can save alot of time.

** My car is a 2004, so it does NOT have a stock wideband. (I read that the stock wideband for 04.5 - current is 0-2V, so that would probably explain why the UEGO can't simulate that one).

While you can try and find ways to trick the stock computer, I find it easier just to drill a hole and weld a new fitting on. Make sure and put it at an angle that water won't effect your new wideband sensor.

but it's not really a trick right? As long as the 0-1 Volt output has the same curve as the stock sensor.

i was always under the impression that the aem was a standalone. just weld on the bung and let it do its thing, alot easier than trying to trip your ecu
