Default EFI Systems Inc - Wide band A/F

Has anyone heard of the UEGO 1000 wideband A/F monitor from EFI Systems

www.efisystems.com

They say they are quite accurate.... and inexpensive $ 549.00

$549.00 isn't even close to 'inexpensive.'

The AEM one is much less than that, and in January they're supposedly releasing a UEGO that fits inside of a 60mm gauge.

For a WIDE BAND unit I think that's a reasonable price.

$549 for a wideband? that is good price.. I remember when i had to use Motec Wideband O2 to tune, that was expensive!

I think AEM is coming out with one too:

I didn't misread your post. There are several places where you can buy a WIDE BAND oxygen sensor and controller kit for much less than $549.

depending on the version, some models of the FJO are less expensive:

http://www.alamomotorsports.com/fjo_wideband.html

The AEM UEGO is much less expensive:

TechEdge WBO2:

seriously, I wouldn't pay $549 for that other kit. Some of these are less expensive AND nicer. AEM is supposed to be releasing a new UEGO soon with an integrated 60mm gauge for easy mounting. Sounds interesting.

Personally, I'm designing my own controller, which will be integrated into an engine datalogger, so I can monitor the engine at all times as well as transfer logged data to a computer for analysis.

The alamo unit is $652.00 when you include he sensor.

The AEM UEGO has no display and looks like it is an option to use with the AEM standalone system which is not available for the Z33

The tech edge unit is close to $600 as well......according to the sales guy at the company.

UEGO is looking pretty good noe.......considering it's ease of install
and competitive pricing.

The techedge system is no where close to $600, I have one. The full getup for the VW 1.8t 7057 sensor is $350 plus about $35 for the sensor itself at any local VW/Audi dealership. The prices on the website are in Australian dollars, the conversion factor is like $.71 per AU dollar.

That VW sensor stinks though......and hence, why its so cheap.

The EFI Systems uses a Bosch sensor..among the best out there.

Only downside to this is that it does not datalog......would be a nice feature, but having spent alot of time on the phone with these guys, it would have been prohibitively expensive.

Best bet out there IMHO is FJO with the small digital display and the logger...not cheap, but does a hell of a lot for the money.

The AEM can be a standalone unit if you want it to...thats what the forthcoming display is for.

Well, you can also buy the Techedge unit with the Bosch sensor. Usually the Bosch sensor is around $100-$150

The Techedge unit with the Bosch 6066 sensor included is $472 or you can buy the unit for $350 and procure your own Bosch sensor.

The newest Techedge unit includes onboard logging and/or direct PC serial connection logging of 8 inputs. You can log:

RPM
A/F ratio
3 EGT inputs

and up to 3 other 0-5v inputs such as

TPS
Boost
Oil temp

I'd put the Techedge unit up against any other Wideband for features, price and upgradeability.

Yes, the prices I quoted were the preassembled prices. It's like $150 if you want to build it yourself.

BTW, they also offer an NTK UEGO sensor version also if you're so inclined.

They will also be offering an analog type guage before long based on a Nordskog Guage. I know this because I purchased the gauge and sent it to them for research and development purposes. The compensated me with a free WBO2. I'll soon have 2 setups in my car so I can monitor both cylinder banks, plus I'll be able to log more stuff than I can things to log.

They have a group on Yahoo for tech support and the engineers are on that list daily answering questions. The tech support is some of the best I've ever encountered.

Oh and BTW, TechEdge contends that the VW 1.8t LSU sensor is just as accurate as any sensor. They have nothing to gain by claiming this because they sell all versions. They say that this is a false claim perpetuated by Motec because that's what they sell.

BTW, the VW 1.8t sensor is a Bosch, it's just a different part number.

0 258 006 066
0 258 007 057

The techedge unit is built specifically around the 7057 sensor which is much cheaper, easier to obtain and to obtain greatest accuracy with it.

In my experience it has been extremely accurate. I have a friend with Uego setup and we compared readings from the car with both hooked up simultaneously. They measured near identical readings.

a couple of quick questions

1. how is the RPM hooked into this? does it only need the signal from the #1 coil or did you have to use the something like the greddy rpm adaptor?

2. which is the wire (location # / color) of the TPS?

3. how is this holding up?

the new version looks very attractive, thanks
