Default Weird transmission noise..

So when I start my car up in the AM and it's still cold I hear a noise upon depressing the clutch pedal. It sounds like a loud cement-mixer / grinding sound and i can feel it in the shift stick and in the clutch pedal. When I let the clutch go, the noise goes away. The noise also goes away once the car warms up.
Has anyone ever had this problem?

I have a CD009 transmission with about 40k miles on it. I replaced the stock fluid with synthetic fluid of the right rating and type. I used royal purple..

Well from what you said with the clutch pedal, I'd guess that it's the throw out bearing on the clutch.

Sup ray,
But would I feel it in the shifter too? Its vibrating a little and makes unusual sounds.

I too have this noise. When I first start up the car with the clutch fully pushed in it doesnt make the noise but once I let the clutch out while im in neutral it makes a constant grinding noise under my car until the clutch is pushed back in. Im not sure if its normal or not I havent heard of many members with this problem. Also if you take your car to the dealer for warranty work on your transmission make sure you have the correct transmission fluid in your car or they will refuse to fix your car because it had the wrong fluid.

I have this issue also, mostly when vehicle is cold. I was leaning towards a failing pilot bearing/bushing.

Would that be covered under warranty if the correct fluid is in there? Or is it a wear and tear item?

Like tranceformer95 said I think its the throwout bearing. This is not a wear and tear item and they should replace it. About the fluid you might want to get some more insight on that. I saw a few threads about people putting in the wrong transmission fluid and nissan denying the warranty work.

+1 on throwout bearing, and yes, you could potentially feel that in the shifter if the vibrations traveled back through the transmission.

Do you have a lightweight flywheel installed by chance?

Clutch in----Throwout bearing
Clutch out---Flywheel. Tis is the "normal" noise the dealer is talking about, and yes it is normal.

Sounds like you have a bad throwout bearing.

Yup I can confirm "clutch out" noise is normal -- does it on my G and I also noticed it on my friends Z. Even worse when I got a lightweight flywheel.

I just bought a used 2004 Nimo 350Z and I have the same issue with the transmittion. The shifter does move around and vibrated when in neutral. Also when it is in gear you can feel it move when you push on the gas and let off. Also hard to get it into 2nd gear. Any one have any ideas? I am hoping that the dealer I got it from will have an answer along with possibly fixing whatever it is without costing me anything.

Yes I agree. I have an 06 Base and I too have this noise. I took it back to CarMax and the guy told me that it was normal for 350z. Although it still bothers me when I hear it.

I have the same problem with 2nd gear and the noise. If you find you what it is please let me know.

Default Cold Tranny noise..

It sounds like I am having the same issue. I have an 06 Base with 18k miles and when its cold it is hard to shift from 1st to 2nd and when the clutch is depressed it makes a weird noise. It goes away as soon as the car warms up.
I'm going to the dealer tomorrow to get my tire sensors replaced(thats another story), but should I tell them I think its the Throw out bearing, or let them try to figure it out? Is the throwout bearing covered under warranty? Could it be anything else?
