Default The "truth" about synthetic oil.

So I found this thread. It is pretty cool though the last post on the 1st page makes a lot of sense to. Doesn't change the dyno numbers though.

I don't believe it. Too many variable come into play IMO.

Reading the comments of people b*tching angered me. A guy with a Cavalier shouldn't be there.

If one oil made more power than another,It would be widely public knowledge and the only oil every car maker and racer used. This test is bunk.

Interesting test, but yeah I agree the range for variance on a dyno is generally at least a few hp...more than enough to offset any "gains" from oils. Does make a pretty good case for using synthetic tho.

Well they did an independent dyno. The numbers are the numbers. Can't argue that point. And if you all think it is such a load of crap then you should be running mineral oil in your car instead of synthetic. All I am saying is these guys ran the same car with different oils and the power output changed based off of that. Make your own conclusions. I personally run Royal Purple and not because of this thread.

don't care what link says but 5000 oil change for synthetic and 3000 for regular.

I used to use RP but it seemed to be water thin when I changed it.

thinner oils should produce a bit more power with less protection?

Not that I have any proof but I think I would prefer "thinner" oil when I changed it than oil that was thicker than when I originally put it in there. Seems like chance of getting buildup...but that is just me.
