5AT update/news
I wanted to take a minute to give a shout out to Tim and Paul at SFR for outstanding customer service, especially with their 5AT and converters.
The update is specific to my particular issue. Quick background: I bought a used trans/conv from a former member here. Turns out it was missing some key parts that caused it to overheat and damn near fry the converter. It also had signs of standing water sitting on crucial parts, that had surface rust on it... in places it shouldnt have. I never had it hooked to the original tranny cooler, mine had always been to a remote cooler only. Well long story short, I did get scammed on this deal... but it was a good lesson learned.
The upside to this is Tim's outstanding customer service and a sincere want to build the best 5at his customers can buy. SFR is currently re-doing the build with a few upgrades that should help it withstand quite a bit more power, than even before. ( hint: more clutches in the pack)
Bottom line is my car made right at 500whp and the trans was eating up some power, so when I get the new trans back I will post the new dyno results which I promise will be higher!!
In conclusion, if you have any 5AT needs, SFR is comes highly recommeded. Call me a nut hugger or whatever, but for them to stand behind their product even though I am the third owner and it was originally built in 2006... really says alot about their commitment to this platform. Again thanks Tim and Paul at SFR.
