what lsd? if you are referring to the nismo one, it had to be added in, and was not a standard feature. all base z's have an open diff and the rest have a vicious.

also how does a limited slip differential have to do with gears? Maybe I'm missing something I know they have different tq settings and different types of lsd's but what's 3.5 gears have to do with anything?

all years have vlsd. The base model has an open diff. Do you have a base and want to swap pumpkins or something?

Why not just buy an aftermarket unit that will drop right into the base pumpkin? They perform better and last longer and don't require sourcing new halfs.

But yes, All Z's other than Base models have factory vicious LSDs as racerfreakxxx said. Are you getting a good deal on one or what?

Oh, for the love of the English language, it's VISCOUS, not vicious. Stop the insanity.

Hey guys i installed 3.5 gears a couple weeks ago. Im thinking that this was actually a 3.3 because i didnot feel any gains. I want to verify this without taking the pumpkin apart. Does anyone know the best way i could check this? It would be a great help. I want to know ASAP, so i can contact the seller.

Some info:
After i installed the gears my rpms are exactly 2875 at 80mph. Im thinking that a 3.3 should get this.

Part numbers arent any help because the numbers on the pumpkin are just the case number.

you replace the fluid as normal. as far as replacing it in the vlsd itself you can't. once it wears out you have the same thing as an open diff
