Default Question about swapping pumpkins

Found a 06 Grand Touring pumpkin with lsd out of a wrecked car and I wanna buy it to put in my base z. Not sure if its out of a manual or auto. so i wuz wondering if the gear ratios are the same. Or does it matter?

auto and MT have different ratios, like a 3.5 for MT and 3.3 for AT.

guys with FI swap into the 3.3 sometimes.

the gear ratios are different for a manual and automatic transmissions, if its from an auto I believe it's a 3.3, if it's from a manual it should be a 3.5. I could be wrong.

^ beat me to it^

high hp z's swap for the 3.3 for better traction and lengthens the gears a bit.

anything above factory 3.5 is useless if you go f/i, so keep that in mind

you are assuming that someone still is in the stock rev range. If you have a 9000 rpm motor, you'll want even more gear than a stock 3.5 final drive.

yes sir i am, and you do have a valid point, but i dont think he has a fully built motor and/or head to make power in the upper rev range.

i am simply stating that if he wants to elongate the gears he'd need a 3.3, which is useless unless your f/i and want to clear up traction issues imo. i assume from your standpoint your talking a high revving motor making power up top as well, and running a shorter gear like the 3.9 or 4.083, which is a way i didnt bother to look at, but is none the less a good alternative depending on the route he chooses to take
