JE pistons
#3
Because JE pistons are a short skirt race design they will be noisier than a stock piston. We are a major dealer for Wiseco so we use Wiseco in all of our builds, but it really comes down to what your machinist is most comfortable with. Getting the proper ring end gaps and piston to wall clearance is the main thing, not the brand of piston.

Pistons crack for a reason....there is not one piston that is more or less immune to it Improper tolerances, improper oiling, improper piston/valve clearance, improper tuning, improper plugs - the list goes on and on.
I will say this about my own builds over the years - take it for whatever it's worth. I've had built engines of all kinds, from BMW, to Nissans (VQ and others) to Porsche, Big Blocks, Small Blocks, Subaru EJ series, Mitsubishi 4G63's. I've run all sorts of pistons - Wiseco (my VQ has these now), JE, Ross, Cosworth, CP, Venolia, Arias, Wossner, Mahle. Same goes for rods - I've run everything from Eagle (my VQ uses these) to Arrow and everything in between (Pauter, Cosworth, Carrillo, etc) - not a single set has ever let me down.
Honestly, it's almost useless to try to seek such info out online. Most of what you're going to likely get are "I heards..." and "my friends...". The absolute best thing you can do, whether you're buidling this engine, or any other, is to enlist a machinist who truly knows what they are doing. Not everyone who assembles an engine has this level of knowledge or experience. Finding a good one is, IMHO, the most important aspect of a successful and reliable engine build.
