Default New Z - What is this thing?

Hi all - I'm the proud owner of a new '06 Z 6spd coupe. I love it already but I have NO experience whatsoever with Zs. I am a converted Jeep Wrangler driver of 10 years! So I need you help fellas...what is this Kinetix thing inside the engine...it's like a black plastic cover and i know that most Zs say "Nissan V6" or whatever on them. What is this Kinetix thing (intake manifold, headers?) and how will this effect my car's performance? Thanks

Also, do any other mods jump out at you? I need expert analysis advice!

wow man

you got some cool things on the car

1. kinetix plenum cover makes for a larger intake air volume combined with that cone filter ( that is JWT popcharger ). all that - significant hp gain.

2. i see stoptech bbk - that is very very good.

3. GTspec FSTB - looks cool and is less weight vs. stock.

are there any exhaust mods ?

+1. You got quality parts there. Especially those brakes, good previous owner.

go to this website, and find an HPDE event @ VIR and go to it. your car needs to go fast ! and you need to learn how to drive it.

Thanks Tac-M! You rock my friend! Any idea of what HP gain I'm looking at? And yes those are Stoptech brakes/rotors - I had no idea they were any good until after I bought the car...someone told me they gor for like $2K?!?! Geez that's crazy

When the brakes need replacement do I have to spend another $2K or am I just replacing the cheap pads inside? Thanks again Tac-M!

I'll have to take pics of the exhaust and post em for you...The car sounds amazing so I'm willing to bet someone upgraded the exhaust as well.

just take your time here on the forum, and read ...read... read...

pads are not expensive - and the stoptechs are good enough to stop a train. so you wont be replacing anything other than pads.

i just have to give you one important thing to look at. don't get freaked out, but 06 350z have a problem with oil consumption - not all of them, but it is a very common problem. so , for the next few months religiously check your oil level.

It's cool to read a story where the outcome is good instead of bad. General someone gets on here with problems from the previous owner... You got some great mods!

+1,000. This forum has a wealth of knowledge, IF, you search and read.

Good buy on the car since they already started your mod bug for you!!

EDIT: Take a picture of the engine bay further out.....I am thinking I see a pop charger intake...not sure.

I would do a search for the kinetix plenum and then a search for 06 oil consumption. Then get a cup of coffee and wipe your schedule clean for the day as you will have some reading to do!! Welcome to the forum.

very helpful advice fellas! Thanks a million. The oil is "so far so good" - I'll stay on top of that every week. I've only had the car for 3 days and love it!

Saw your pictures in your other thread. You do have a JWT intake. As I suggested, get the recharger spray from JWT. It will have instructions on their site to wash and prep the filter to "recharge" (spray with a special oily spray to improve filtration). You may be able to use the K&N recharger also, not sure.

OP where in Richmond are you located? I'm located in Chesterfield County, Midlothian to be exact. Good to see another 350z owner in the area!

My Z was $19K ...had it transferred from the Memphis, TN Carmax all the way to Richmond, VA. I live in downtown Richmond (Shockoe Bottom) area...I grew up in Chesterfield! I'm almost 28 and working hard to pay for this crazy car! haha
