Not to go off topic completly but, I was told my oil leak I have had for a while is from my oil pan seal. The shop quoted me about $1,000 and said they have to pull the motor. This immediatly sounded suspect, and now I am convinced they don't know whats going on if you guys are just dropping the pan from the bottom. or an I mistaken???

Well there's an upper and lower oil pan. It can leak from a lot of different places. have them show you exactly where it's leaking on a parts diagram.

just about all the M6 bolts (10mm head) have an 80 in-lb torque rating on this engine.

yes.....but you may want to add a washer or lock washer uner the bolt head. also, I have found that advance auto parts has similar bolts to the factory bolts....bolts with a nice flange molded into it. they are even gold in color, like the stockers.
