Default Grinding sounds near front of engine!!

Its like theres gravel on the belts or something, what could it be??? Its a gravel/grinding sound right where all the belts are. Did lil research could be the water pump. Is there anyway to check it without taking everything apart? or could it be something else?

Could it be the timing chain tensioner? If it isn't tensioning right, the chain is loose and makes all kinds of noise. I think this is very easy to inspect by taking off a small cover on the front of the engine, that allows you to peek in to see the tensioner.
