Plus you have nothing at the end.

What can you do to keep up? Howzabout trading in your Z and getting a Mercedes SLR McLaren?
Then you won't have to worry about him beating you.
Also, if you're worried about hooking up your car, just trick your bro into financing it for you. Just tell him that you're doing "house repairs".

I initially thought that it would be pointless to start this thread but on paper, it didn't seem so farfetched (at first). The rationale behind this "silly thread" is that the Greddy turbo (prototype) reportedly hit the quarter in about 12.79 seconds. According to Road and Track and the Los Angeles Times, the E55 is just a tick below the mid 12 second range. Naturally, I thought that beefing up the VQ internals would allow one to safely turn up the boost on the Greddy system (or P.E. system). I thought that would be the great equalizer but the general consensus seems to be: give it up.
So who knows? Perhaps this is a silly and pointless pipedream but maybe not. I know some MR2 Turbo and All Trac Celica Turbo guys that would certainly give the E55 a run for it's money (I've seen their time slips). If it's possible to prepare a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder turbo motor (3SGTE) to propel a car into the 12's then why does it seem like such a daunting task for the Z33?
Oh crap, I've gotta get back to work...

And you arent left with nothing. You are paying for the depreciation of the vehicle when you lease. When you buy you are paying the msrp and then have to absob the costs of depreciation on top of that!
Who these days keeps a car, without any unforseen accidents for more than 4-5 years anyway. in the past 10 years I have done both lease and finance, and if you arent racking up 50,000 miles a year, then leasing is the way to go.
It gives you so many options. You have the option to buy the car after lease with a fixed price, before you sign the lease. after the term you can see the tru market value. if the market value is higher than your buy back, then you can buy it and sell it for profit. if its not holding its value, then why would you want to keep it? just trade it in and remind yourself you only paid for the usage of the vehicle.

Bottom line is that the 350Z is capable of whooping the E55. there are many many ways to do it. but all ways begin with MONEY. And gobs of it. A serious reliable everyday twin turbo setup on a 350Z to make 500 lbs of torque and 450hp will cost $11,000 with labor easy (My dream list of parts came out to $17k retail!) Maybe in a fantasy land you can get a Top Secret Turbo kit for $6000,leave out the intercooler and internals, and get used slicks and win 1 race and break down. But the E55 will do that every day anywhere while sipping your mocha frappacino and your baby seat in the back. The twin turbo 350z will prob have major service issues.
but to do it right, you need at least 11k and weeks, perhaps months of TUNING! Ask poor Cheston who is prototyping the Power Enterprise kit. He prob hasnt driven his z in 2 months. But well worth the wait.
I think modding should be done for personal satisfaction and to create a unique car that represents you! I mean its like saying, "i want to go to the gym but how can i outdo those damn steroid poppers with biceps the size of my waist." Just make a car that you love and will cherish. who cares what it can and cant take out.

I think its possible to beat a stock 2003 E55 AMG with under 12k of cash and still have a reliable everyday 350z. Lets take a ATI SC, some 3.5" Y-pipes, new high flow cats and exhaust, a good piggy back or new ECU, some good tunning, 275/30 Bridgestone SO-3 in the rear on lightweight 18"s, and then toss out the spare tire, jack, matting. That has to be good for consistent mid 12's.
For good measures, get a CF hatch with an acrylic rear window. That should be around a 50lb diet. Ok, so thats another 4 or 5k but sell the old hatch on Ebay to some guy that dented his in an accident and you can make half of the money you spent on the CF hatch back. 8-P

I believe the new GT-R is going to have a 3.3 liter TT...
but yah, E55? duuuuude. Forget about it man. Just go sell your car and look for something that's already got two more cylinders than our Z's and some FI...

$495 daily rental, I'll take one for a day to go do that! Damn. The E55 probably was listening to a CD, had the air on and the family for a ride. Forget the CL55, E55 is awesome bang for the buck.
