No more 3rd gear!

No more 3rd gear!
So I lost 3rd gear a few days ago, I assume the synchros broke....
Anyways, does anyone know where I can get a decent MT transmission?
I have a 2004 Z with mech. brakedown coverage; however, their ideas for replacements are all off of flipped Z's. A new Nissan transmission would cost me, about $1000 on top of my deductible and I really don't want to afford that. I realize this is likely a dead end, but does anyone anywhere on this site know where I could get one?
Any other help would be appreciated too, for instance, Geico says I can only get a 2004 transmission. Is this true or best? (I know '03 had problems but I can't believe Geico really knows anything.
Thanks always you guys are the best

Call Sharif at Forged. He may either have one or he might be able to refer you to a source. 3rd gear is a known issue because of the design. Look for posts by BriGuyMax I believe who sourced a stronger 3rd gear for FI.

I drive in a spirited fashion, but no track days etc. so I can't believe I drive it that hard. I have about 33k and it happened like this...
That day I was driving and I went for third turning into my neighborhood. Pressing into third something felt different, no grind or anything, but I coasted (in 3rd...) while wondering what happened and the tach suddenly blipped itself to 2500 rpms and fell back, did it once again and by that time I pulled it out of third. I went for it again and it engaged fine. Later that night, on the way to baltimore, I was merging onto the highway and went for 3rd - grind - pulled it back out, went again - grind. I needed third so I just tried to roll it in (sort of the way you can shift without a clutch in crappy cars) and then it was gone.
Thanks rcdash, I'll try talking to him, no geico says i 'missed my chance' on that transmission and is now trying to give me one with 32k for $999 - great.
