Ditto, I was just looking at them and wanted to install one on my car when doing this oil change, however I didn't see any locally.

Keith, do you have them in stock?

That is the most simple yet best tip I've even heard. It's one of those DUHHHHHHHHHHH moments.

I'm so doing that from now on.

This works the best. Just be sure to use it right away.

I hate when the bolt falls into the hole clogging the oil / oil draining too fast and over flooding.. Happens to me all the time.

Now I remember to slowly take the bolt out and yank it out as fast as possible.

8.5 quarts is a lot..how big's the motor?

Also isn't the car brand new..mercedes don't get any sort of free year maintenance/oil change like I've seen some companies do. Or free maintenance like bmw.

3.5L motor, it holds 8.5 quarts to help extend the oil changes to 12month/12K miles

Mercedes does not offer free stuff, that's a BMW thing.

Next time use a magnetic retriever to just grab the plug before it even falls into the hole... or put a piece of window screen over the hole.

Little late for that.

It will never happen again, one of the reasons I posted about what happened is so other people will know better then to use that type of container at least with out drilling another hole or two into the top.
