Default 256 rwhp no tune on an 06'!!

Hey guys,

Got the car dyno'd today. My mods are: motordyne 5/16th spacer, MREV2, megan resonated test pipes, motordyne shockwave exhaust and an injen cold air intake. I haven't gotten it tuned yet, but I was shocked by the results.

The dyno was done on a dyno dynamics dyno. the temp was about 76 degrees. It was a dyno day, so I wasn't the only one.

The weird thing is, I had gotten it dyno'd two weeks ago on the same dyno and it read 231. We only ran it once just for kicks. But today we did it three times...

233, 248, and 256. Any clues as to why the numbers would change so much. I just find it hard to believe that is completely accurate, I mean please correct me if I'm wrong ha. That number is a lot better than the 231. I don't know too much about dyno's but, I figured I'd ask and get opinions.

I have a vid of the dyno and here is a pic of the comp screen. Thanks for the info guys.

Tuner was playing with corrections or something.......no way should there be a 23whp discrepancy b/w pulls.

Were the mods the same as the pull from 2 weeks ago?

hmm. yeah the mods were exactly the same. he said that it could "learn" and make corrections according to... like if it was detecting knock or something.

i am not too sure. that's why i decided to post up. they thought i had gotten it tuned since the last time, but i have changed nothing except a new radar detector lol

Seeing as how you made 231 and then subsequently 233 on the first pull this time.......that would seem more reasonable. I would have to assume some calibration was changed b/w pulls. The biggest differential I have seen b/w three pulls with my car with the same mods was 3-4whp. How was the a/f? Have you run the car at the track?

Yeah, I don't know what to think. Yep, it was calibrated between each pull. I have never tracked the car either. There was only one other car there that had a pretty substantial difference and it was like 6 or 7 between pulls. It was an older civic si.

I didn't check out the AFR this time, but last time it wasn't really running lean. They told me I stood to gain around 10 whp after a tune, then today we did this and got these results lol. I am not too sure what would be the reason.

The hp ranged from a 125hp focus to a 668rwhp sc300 which blew is head gasket. i don't know what to believe lol. I guess, I will just have to wait and see after the tune.

Yeah.....they were making some changes for your benefit I think. 10whp +/-3 is about average.......good luck.

N/A cars make more power as they warm up and get to operating temps. My car did the same thing on a DD dyno.

Maybe 3-5whp, but no where near ~25whp. If so, dude was playing when you did it too.

Also, after a few minutes operating temperatures will increase to the point where without adequate cooling, AIT's will correspondingly increase and subsequently lower whp.

Find another dyno and you might get 246 or 266 horsepower.

Ask for your $ back. These dynos tell you nothing.

abushong504, I believe i've seen you on the drivelex forum. Can you tell me where you got dyno'd? I'm in central KY as well and would like to get on a dyno. 06 6mt, Mrev2, 5/16 spacer, Berk HFC's, Stillen Y-pipe, Apexi WS2 exhaust.

Sorry for the minor thread hijack
