Default Aftermarket Clutch and Slave Cylinder

Took my car, 2007 Base, into the shop today for an oil change and to have them look at the slave cylinder. Dealer said yeah the slave cylinder is bad and we will fix it, but we believe the problem is the aftermarket clutch is too heavy for it. They "Strongly Recommended" I replace the aftermarket clutch with a stock Nissan clutch for 680 bucks. My question to the forum is has anyone else had issues with the slave cylinder going bad because of an aftermarket clutch?

Any insight is welcome

Thanks

I'm not 100% sure if it's the clutch. But there is a TSB on 07's for the slave cylinder.

Yes, there have been others who have broken their slave cylinder due to an aftermarket clutch. Most seem to be with the JWT clutch.

Questions, what aftermarket clutch are you using? You have any power mods? If so, curious to know what kind. And how many miles do you have on your aftermarket clutch? Thanks

I honestly don't know what aftermarket clutch I have. The previous owner installed it and I didn't think to ask him at the time. The only mods I have are test pipes and he installed those as well.

I have had my JWT clutch in for 25,000 miles I installed a new nissan slave cylinder at the same time. I have not had any problems with it!

the 07-08 Z's are running a different slave cylinder setup than the previous years and thus have been having issues since going to concentric type.

I dont think it's a clutch issue, I think it's an a general issue with the design. It's still fairly rare to have a slave/master go bad, but it does happen from time to time.

Got it back on Friday and it was the concentric slave cylinder. All is better for now.

So is this your second time replacing the CSC? Are you planning on changing out the clutch?

Im not sure what they fixed the first time but I believe it was the CSC. This time it definitely was the CSC that was replaced. They suggested I go back to a stock clutch setup but I doubt I do that, especially if they keep fixing the CSC under warranty.
