Default quick question, what oil weight is best?

I thought it was 10w30, but vic told me 5w30... so which is it?

I was running mobile1, but I think Im gonna get a case of royal purple.

I dont know what weight oil the shop put in my car last time, but tho at idle is seems normal, under acceleration hot or cold it seems to hit 120psi easily... I wonder if this is due to the wrong oil weight?

The dealership was using 10W-30 for this climate zone, I changed to 5W-30 MOBILE 1 because its good down to -20 degrees. The owner's manual also says 5W-30.

Look in the Owners' Manual to know for sure what is recommended. However, that is for dino oil, not synthetic, so you can diverge a little.

What kind of climates do you see? Sub-zero? 100F+?

I run Redline 10W-40(~$7/qt. shipped). My Max manual specifies a 5W-30 for all climates, but suggests a 10W-30 or 10W-40 for 100F+. A dino 10W shouldn't be used for ANY sub-zero temps IIRC, however if you're running a synthetic, it's just fine due to better flow for cold starts for most climates.

If you drive long periods in 95+ you want 10-40 but if you don't drive extended periods in that kind of temp 10-30 works great. 10-30 breaks down quicker at higher temperatures than 10-40.

I get my purple from jegs.com I order by the case except they just went up in price to 5.69 a quart.

If you live anywhere where the ambient temperature may drop below freezing, it is highly recommended to use a lesser viscosity oil: ie: 5w-30--- I'm in Boston, that's what I will use

Im probably gonna get it from jegs, the alternative was 69$ for a case and 16 shipping, and I could only get it by the case, jegs is slightly cheaper per quart and only 8.99 shipping.
