Default 06' 350z overheat

My 06' 350z randomly overheated last night while i was at sonic. I turned it off and turned the heat on to pull some heat off the engine because i thought it was my radiator. When i turned it back on it was still a little hot but as i pulled away from sonic headed to my house the temperature dropped and it cooled right back down to normal. Anybody got any ideas or reasons why this happened?

Best bet would be a defective thermostat. Check the coolant level and hoses as well

Are the fans coming on?

I know for sure one fan is coming on and the other is coming on intermittently i think. Are they both suppose to come on at the same time? Me and my dad were looking at it and he said they don't both have to come at the same time. He was thinking it was the thermostat. I know there is a little antifreeze on that plastic engine plate and i know that's a sign of the pump going out, but I'm not sure where the pump is if its going out. Dad was saying maybe it overheated cause the thermostat and when it pushed some antifreeze over to the reserve it was hot and leaked some out the tube cause it expanded it.

Default radiator

the fans will come on independently....also i just delt with your same problem. Turned out to be air in my lines...I flushed and filled the radiator, 3 weeks later she starts to give me over-heating issues....honestly fill the crap out of the radiator, when you think shes had enough, give her more...thats what it took to fix my issue. And just keep using that bleeder valve to you dont have any more air

One's the A/C condenser fan, it'll only come on when the A/C is on.

How do you bleed the radiator? I replaced my fans and radiator and am overheating. I have a procharged Z. I also have no heat!

just warm up the car with the cap off to make sure bubbles are coming out of system..or there is a bleeder on one of the heater hose
also nissan has had problems with the fans not working here and there..i got a letter in the mail a couple days ago stating this and the warrenty of 03-07 350z moved to 84k for the fans only

well if it has air in the system you can just leave the cap off and as it bleeds the air while running you'll see bubbles come out..fill it to the top and it'll suck down when air starts coming out

If your car is only overheating when sitting still and does fine when traveling down the road at speed, cooling fans are likely to blame. If you turn your AC on, both fans on the radiator should turn on full blast. My Z has not overheated, but I have a scangauge installed in my car so I can monitor exact coolant temps and I noticed that the coolant temp would climb to around 204 while idling for long periods of time with the AC on. I found that the driver side cooling fan was not spinning or sometimes spinning very slowly so I ordered a new fan motor. If you do find that the cooling fan motor is bad or going bad, Nissan has an extended warranty on 04-06 cooling fan motors so you may want to check that out.

The bleeder is located towards the rear of the motor on a hose on the battery side.
Unscrew the stopper, fill to max, let it warm up and bleed again.
careful, I lost one somewhere down the bottom and it took about an hour to find it.
