Is there a lead comming off/to the ECU which one can tap for a oil temperature guage?

If not whats your recommendations for where to get the temperature?

To get an oil temp reading you install an oil filter sandwich; MOCAL makes an excellent one. The sandwich should accept AN fittings in order to have a line for oil temp.

I usually see them installed in the oil pan. A sandwich should work to.

pin 8 off the sensor plug.

edit: that's oil pressure not temp. our cars don't have an oil temp sensor.

They most certainly do. Plug in any scantool worth its weight and you'll get an engine oil temperature read out in your choice of degrees or centigrade.

Default Oil Temp

Dirtbiker..Can you please explain that a little more please. I am TT and have the 350Z Haltech Platinum but still retain the standard computer. I also have a oil cooler with the Mocal sandwich plate alas no extra inputs for oil temp. I would like to know how I could utilise the oil temp function off the computer.
Thanks Ken (Australia)

I'll plug my LM-2 in and try again but after using it for 7 months now it has yet to let me log oil temp. If i could then i wouldn't have bought a secondary oil temp sensor.

The same way our cars do not report MAP to the obdII either.

I use cipher all the time to check my oil temp. My car is an 07 but I am almost positive that I have been able to log oil temp. on my friend's 06.

i checked on both innovate LM-2 and my BR-3 obdII dataloggers. Both are the same thing: oil temp not supported. Our cars don't support MAP either.

this is a 2003 car.
