Default hydrolock

hi,

I have a built 3.8 lt aps twin turbo setup, went through about a foot of water, was pulling off through the puddle and the car died in the middle of the road... was really scared as it was night, my hazzards didn't work and the back of the car is black... loads of drunk drivers etc ...

the car did turn over once but no starting, at first I thought it was the battery but after the back wheels locked up trying to jump start it i did some searching and found out about hydrolock...

the car sat for 3 weeks before going into the shop yesterday, the guys did the spark plug thing and drained the oil out of the engine and luckily it started and is running smoothly...

the shop said they doubt any damage was done inside but only time will tell...

am trying to find a way to get the intakes up higher but there aint no space ...

anyone got a solution?

Cheers
DDD

Did the same thing with a past car. but i hit 7k in RPMs trying to keep it alive. Sucked up lots of water. Pistons stoped moving head kept turning! Jumped time and messed everything up!

The filter i had was "hydrophobic" so called. So when it gets wet it should actually suck up water through the filter. In a situation where it was raining and my filter gets wet, it would kind of choke my engine by blocking air. Usually i would give it a bit of a boost to try to keep it alive if neccesary.

The night i jumped time, i just so happen to to do it on what some people might want to call a river on a road from an all of a sudden flash flood. Insticts took over and failed.

Now i will never:

depending on the cai, you should be able to get a water bypass valve which helps block water from entering the engine. I know the nismo's have the valve stock and it is an option on some other cai's

Don't drive your car with cold air intake in the rain and through puddles... it's a trade off.
