Default hey guys have a couple questions about my motor..

hey there,

i am new to the forums here but i have a couple of questions that im sure someone out there knows the answer to.

i have an 03 350 and i am curious about the block and internals. how much horse power can jus the stock block in my car handle?? i am wanting to upgrade my internals build the block but i dont know wat i can build the block to or if it would even be worth my time to try and build it. i am wanting to just naturally asperate (i know i cant spell) right now and down the road i want to throw on a turbo kit. but i need the block to beb built up to handle the horsepower.

so i guess my questions are:
1) wat can the stock block handle? horsepower wise..
2)wat can the stock crank handle?

thanks for any advice you may have.

Post up what you want as the final outcome and you may get more helpful responses. You shouldn't build your block before you know what you want to do to it, waste of money.

420 to 450 turbo, also if your going to build your block just build it for Force induction.

also if it auto your going to have to upgrade the torque converter and so on. your talking about 20g plus . have fun

Dont waste u r money in building your block, 03 and 04 are the worst blocks out there, i will suggest you go to; importpartspro.com/shblpa.html and you can get a short block already build for up to 650hr for $2600 and you will save the Dolor de cabeza!!

hey ya sorry i wasnt specific.

i have a 6 speed manual.

i am making about 450 right now on bottle. i am wanting to build it up and allow it to handle a 250 shot threw it. also looking at doing some basic cams in it just to help a little and for the sound. so i have a few thousand to play with right now and so wanting to just build the motor to handle up to 700 horse or so.

i have heard from a performance shop around that my stock block built can handle 700 to 800 horse. whether this is true or not i do not know. thats why im asking. i mean i am hoping to build the motor up and spray the hell out of it for a few months and then when i blow it i will be dropping either a fully built LS1 in it or a crate TT motor. havent really decided yet on that end.

but ya i am just curious that if i built my block right if it could handle the 700 to 800 they say it can or if that is false. and also curious how muh power my stock crank can actually handle too.

450@whp??
i don't think anyone ever reach that much whp with a juice on stock block,
I mean vq has been proven many times it can tk up 1000+ hp. On stock block with basic built, i think vq can handle 600-700 no problem.
Just need good tunner!!

450 na , 800 FI is whats its good for, and a simple rod swap makes it handle an extra 100hp

I'm sorry, but after reading this I get the feeling your full of it and you don't know what your talking about. I could be completely wrong but thats just how it sounds. If you build anything right you can make whatever whp numbers your wanting. I've seen Z's with over 1000whp, major build. Basic internals I think can do 550-650whp. Thats just rods. I think I saw you have an 03 model year if so i believe a company out there makes a main girdle which will help support the crank and allow you to make more power.

okay well one redman im not full of it. the shop told me that is the estimated horsepower i am making to the crank not to the wheels. i will post you pics of my car if you want...
not trying to be a @$$ but like i am not too car smart and this summer is the first year i have messed with my motor. i did all cosmetics stuff to my car last summer and now want to work on the motor. so i may sound sorta confused sometimes and thats bc i am lol :/ but i am trying to learn. so you are saying get a girdle for my crank?? what is that? and wat will it do? and wat HP u think i ca make out of it.

also i am front st louis and adrenaline orders in all my parts, and they got my body kit, wheels, all my bolt ons, and everything i need for my car besides stereo and i had best buy in chesterfield get me that.

thanks for the help

Uhh...are you saying you have no experience with rebuilding an engine and you want to practice on this one? If so, I hope you've got lots of time and money x.x lol
