I usually concur with you, but this is a sports car, and you seem to be the only person on this forum who has never been over 3k. These motors were meant to be run at any speed under their red line reliably for extended periods of time. OP, as long as it's not burning and the pressure is fine and there are no other problems with the car, drive on and enjoy, I get weird smells after I have some fun with her too, they always go away though.
