Default Would 87 octane gas through a cel?

Generaly I would use premium but in this case today I had to make my last $3 last. I was running on 0dte so filled up half a gallon on 87 instead of 91 when I made it to base and stopped at the gate I noticed my cel had turned on.
So long story short I barely made it to
my destination but my question still is on an empty tank would 87 octane have enough change in detonation and timing to cause my cel to turn on

You do realize why you need the higher octane gas for the Z, right?

Of course but without my debit or credit card on me and 3 dollars in cash I had to make choice at the risk of either being stranded on the freeway or barely getting were I needed to be. I just need a yes or no because I won't be able to get a code reader until sat

Did you close ur gas tank? 87 wont cause a CEL. The computer will jus pull timing.

Yea I doubled checked when I got here gas caps on
I know it could be anything but first things that come to my mind are gas? Dirty maf or maybe a loose non fouler bc of the test pipes. I know I have a brake light out but I highly doubt that's the issue

87 no CEL, loose cap = CEL.
0dte when it first comes on is like 1.5 gallons of gas left. We typically go 50 miles when ours blinks "- - - -".

My gauge is highly inaccurate iv never filled my tank past 14 gallons
let alone there are times it reads empty and iv only filled it with 6 gallons
so I don't trust it. At im just hoping there isn't a day that it's actually accurate and I get stuck somewhere but I had driven close to thirty miles on before I got my .8 of a gallon so honestly I have no idea what's in my tank at the moment

OP, hopefully you did not rush to base on 87 octane. Car must pull timing, so higher RPM is bad for engine (knocking).

Redlinedifterzx, calculate your gas mileage at each fill up (reset trip odo) and you should be able to tell when you are really coming close to empty.

My dealer filled up my tank with 87 when I purchased the Z. 87 will not cause a CEL. What other mods do you have? TP/HFC's or headers maybe?

Oh god no. Iv heard horrible stories from friends who's parents borrowed there car and didn't no it took premium and filled with regular.

I only went with one step below premium and I did my best to keep it under 3.5k

As of right now I have test pipes hks exhaust 5/16 pleneum ur pulleys ram air intake sways springs grounding kit and

I'm sure you can check off sways and springs on the list of possible causes
the only thing I touch in the last two days was the front bumper to install the amuse cf lip and I refilled my window washer fluid
it just came on today though so I guess untill I get a code reader until them i'm kinda los. On that not dies anybody know if ammco will use a code reader or do they just guess after listening about the symptoms. Iv heard mixed stories

You dont need an OBD reader. You can just do the ECU reset via the pedal method and count the number of times the CEL blinks between pauses. It will give you a code.
