Of the high end oils Mobil One is the most resonable priced, the most readily available, and can go long enough, protect thouroughly enough, and in a close enough way to the real expensive oil that is seems to be the logical choice for all those but the most lubracativelly ****.

Amsoil- everywhere- engine, tranny & diff!!!!!
(Yes, I have used Mobil One and Castrol- Amsoil is my choice. Join the preferred buyer club and then order up what you need and the price will be comparable to Mobil One.)

I also use Amsoil. I have put it in my BMW, Supras and F250. Never had a problem in any car.

Mobil one synthetic, it's easy to find, and I want to be sure to run the same oil from now on. If it's some hard to get oil, that would be difficult.

I run Castrol GTX 5w-30...only 1.79 a quart...

I originally ran Castrol GTX 5w-30 in my 97 Maxima and then switched to Mobil 1 5w-30.

I had any oil analysis done on each oil after a 5,000 mile interval and the engine showed just about exactly the same wear characteristics with both oils....and a few wear metals were even higher in the Mobil 1. I don't think synthetic is worth the extra $$ you drop on it.

Furthermore after seeing the inside of a VQ30DE motor with 171,000 miles on in and still being able to see the factory etching on the cylinder walls...I don't think it really matters what oil you use unless you plan on running your car WELL over 200,000 miles.

Aren't you just supposed to use the oil the dealership uses for the first 10k miles? I thought i saw that somewhere on the forums before. I'm still under 10k, but then I might switch to something else.

these are multi-viscosity oils... the 5w is not as thick at 10w when it's cold, so it has a tendency to be moved a little faster by the oil pump when you first start the car

when the oil is up to temp, it will act as a 10w (10 weight) oil

some race teams use single viscosity oils.... you might hear them talking about 30 weight, 40 weight or even 50 weight oils for their race engines... that's the same as the 10w in the multi-viscosity name... those oils are thick all the time

Hope that helps,
