What do you guys think about the technique if its done properly (no forcing the shifter if its not getting in/out of gear easily, no grinding, etc)?
I can't really believe that there is a horrible wear and tear on synchros by a technique that pretty much requires perfect/damn near perfect rev-matching.

I have a clutch and use it, no point not using it.

No. Clutchless downshifts will put more wear and tear on the gearbox itself, particularly as you are learning. You're much better off spending your time learning to properly heel-and-toe downshift and rev matching while using the clutch. Plus, clutches are cheaper than rebuilding trannys.

Well if you get it perfectly right, not too much damage. But lets be honest, how often do you get it perfectly right? Heel-toe and proper rev matching will be much more useful. Have fun with it either way. Your car.

For some reason the phrase "if you can't find it, grind it" comes to mind!
I think our synchros are fragile enough as they are, for you to go experimenting with clutchless shifting.
