I have this too, but I'm pretty sure it's normal. It's been that way since the car was new.

I dont have this issue, either. 05' auto.

You check your trans fluid lately? How long since a full flush?

mine doesnt do it+1

im not an AT expert, but you should check/change the fluid/flush completely.

You know how the transmission pan has 2(if im not mistaken) magnets on the inside, look for metal shavings. my older bro had a grinding noise in his silverado from P-R. we drained the fluid, surely enough there were metail bits that came out too. 6months later his tranmission went out. I hope this doesnt happen to you. I could be completely wrong. In your case I hope I am.

Are you on an incline when this happens?

When parking on an incline, I always engage the parking brake and let off the foot brake BEFORE I shift into park and shut the engine off. That way there's no load on the transmission park pawl. When I'm ready to go again, the parking brake stays on until I've shifted the transmission out of park.

That's probably covered in Driver's Ed. Or should be.

I only hear anything if parked on an incline, which is everyday but I usually do what winch said.

Was it grinding before the trans go kit? Maybe that with a combination of low tranny fluid might be the culprit

If you keep your foot on the brake and hold it tight until it completely engages reverse, it shouldn't make the noise. Mine has the same thing, and since I go from D --> N and pause there, then take my foot off the brake, and then push the button in and go to reverse without putting my foot on the brake, I hear it too. But when I keep my foot firmly on the brake I don't get it. It does sound worrisome when it does it, but I'm convinced it's fairly normal, mine's been doing it since new and it has 50k on it now...
