2004 350Z's
Do all 2004 350Z have the new 6speed transmission? I know there are 2 or three different part numbers out there for the 6MT tranny. I am having some issues with my 03 and I am debating weather or not to trade it in now on a 04 or have my issues repaired under warranty. I really am worried about warranty repairs and the quality of the work. I don not trust some of the local dealers in my area to do a tranny swap... Any advice?

Well, never experienced the 03 tranny, but my 04 is shakin like crazy at idle. I think that normal. No grinding so far. The only problem I'm having is that sometimes it's hard to put it in 6th and sometimes 4th. Maybe it's just me.

Truth is no one really knows zippo about what the 04 owners really want to know. Only 04 owners over time will know. aint been out long enough and not enough data out for the 04's that are out. I can tell ya I got 1000miles on my 04TRACK and other than little BS nothing is wrong and the car Rocks! Get the Z you will not regret it. Read the boards here cuz it's the best place for info from the owners of this car.

I have one of the first '04s, I think. The dealer told me they started arriving about 1.5-2 weeks before I bought my car. The last 4 digits of my vin are 432, so I guess my car was the 432nd '04 Z produced.
My transmission has been perfect as far as I can tell. No more or less smooth than the 5-spd I had in my Prelude. The stick shakes a little at neutral, but that's perfectly normal for a vehicle with a direct-link transmission (the shifter is directly connected to the tranny, instead of through cables like most FWD cars). The S2000 does the exact same thing.
