Sorry.... I don't really get this... so that means when you shift into 2nd, you still cannot get up to 62 with the evo one, but only lower than the OEM? I thought the original diff will not allow you to go up to 62mhp already but how come you stated 63.5mhp with the OEM setup?

Please explain as I am not a diff guru!!! ^^
Thanks heaps!

cheers,

richie

Thumbs up

Awesome! Something else to do when I replace my diff. Having that final drive advantage drastically improves acceleration, especially if you have the TS ECU upgrade to raise your rev limit capabilities...

It is not about top speed but rather how fast you get there, and this will do it.

Pm sent, but how much would a typical install for these be. I remember back on the s2000 the j's racing gear set dropped the quarter mile time from 14.1 to 13.3 with just gears. I say this becasue many people here know that we are comparable in quarter times to s2's. Hence we should have similar gains. I know this is just the final drive and not a whole gear set, but if it will drop 2 to 3 tenths in the quarter it will still be a better gain than doing all the bolt ons. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I have been driving with this in my street car and it made a big difference. In some ways its like reduction of 600 Rpms that you arent waiting or reving out........but you have already gone through the entire rpm band.
We found at a lot of the track days we have done with our silver car ........we seem to be caught between 2nd and 3rd gear in a lot of spots even with a higher rev limit. This allows to use third gear and stay in the power band.
I havent taken the Z to a drag strip but a final drive is always a good option there.

if you can guess-timate, how much time can it drop when going 1/4miles? this will give me a ball park figure of how important this upgrade is..

thanks!

I will not be an early adopter for this piece, but I am extremely interested. If this does get done, I might purcahse one down the road. As always, I look at 350EVO parts as some of the best.

Interesting, in a stock car at 80 mph, the rpms are right at 3000 rpms. What is it with this new gearing?? Don't know if it is possible, but I wish I could get this gearing, with a taller 6th gear to drop the rpms to like 2500 at 80 mph. Now that would truely be the perfect setup, set for performance with the first 5 gears, and interstate cruising in 6th.

The acceleration times and rpms at 80 in 6th are of the most interest to me on this mod. Are you saying that we would be at 3600 rpms at 80mph, since there is a 600 rpm shift?

6th gear in this car for the track is worthless. The only place we use 6th all year has been at Daytona.
With this set up.... the car really goes through the gears.

I understand what you are saying, but that is not the point of my post. Most people on this board will spend most of their time on the street, not the track. I am sure this is a wonderful mod for the track and I would love the 1st-5th gearing on my street car. But in an interstate cruise, it will cost you mpg cause the gearing will make the car run at a higher rpm.

All I was saying that while 6th is useless on the track, it is not useless to most people that own the car. Your gearing, with a taller 6th would be the perfect setup, and I would back that up by definitely buying that setup and I am sure I am not alone. Is it possible??

I hear you....but actually the nice thing about it is it puts it in the power band better.....so there is no need to go down a bunch of gears to make daring passes on the highway.

Cool, but is what I am talking about possible?? Is there a way where I could get shorter gears for 1st-5th and either leave 6th alone, or make it taller??

Mind you, I do love you guys products, and the reason why I am asking is cause I am thinking about purchasing. I like the sway bars you guys make too.
