I was suprised to find out that I could still use many of the features it provides like launch control and flat shift as well as having two or three different maps, one for pump, 100 oct and c16.... very interesting.

yea the dbw is plug n play for the pedals. im just welding a bracket to my stock z pedal as opposed to using a camaro pedal for my throttle cable. i've yet to find a solution to keep the stock z tach, but if theres a solution lmk before i buy this speedhut thingymajig.

for the trans, any t56 setup will work. i went ahead and bought a fully built t56 setup. the gears are strong like the z's, but its other little internals that are weaklinks. my suggestion, buy a tr6060 trans, they are bulletproof!!

98-02 f body t56 can only be used with f body LSx engines. Vette t56 can only be used with vette engines. Lt1 t56 can not be used with ls1 engines unless you change some internal parts.

i think we all kinda knew the vette ones wouldnt work. vette anything doesnt work in this swap except the block itself. not even sure if the way the accessories are mounted if itd fit. any 98-02 fbody/ls1-ls2 gto/ls3+ t56/tr6060 will work so long as its not a vette. and no one looks at lt1 stuff because its garbage lol

the motor will work, but the accessories are laid out differently(ie alternator sits up top, etc.) and the harness will not work.

Less dough than you would think... remember the motor willl have to be parted out and I will most likely take a hit if the turbos are shot again ($1700 to repair). Regardless I should have enough to cover the bulk of the cost of the swap, the LS2 is just harder to find, especially with the T56.

I found one in Denver: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/05-06...item2eb4ec337e

Seems a bit steep though. Looking at this one too:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/E470-...item2eaf772740

I can't decide if I just want to get a stocker and get back on the road right away or be down another whole season and put some parts together

I'm 99% doing this swap though... I just want to spit on my car when I walk past it in the garage now.

It's going to be a little tough, but if you go on the ls1tech boards there are vendors over there that will be able to source you a motor and trans. I don't have any off the top of my head, but I will do some researching and post back.

That was my number one question to really get headed in the right direction.... sourcing a decent engine/tranny combo...

Cass might want to source one locally like junk yard or try to get buddy buddy with someone at a dealership

Yeah that too but that's not really what I was thinking.

I was just thinking that maybe someone who has managed to blow 5 motors in the same car over the years it probably wouldn't matter what motor he puts into the car he's gonna find a way to destroy it anyway.
LS motors aren't indestructible miracle engines touched by the hands of GOD. Any engine would fail if you tried to push it to it's mechanical limits. Hell the stock rods in the LS2 become compromised at around 450HP not to mention all the other parts that are prone to failure before you even get to that point. Best of luck on the 480-500hp goal.

Suggestion
