bbs- are you running a GM ecu? if so where did you mount yours? My OEM ecu fits fine in its location but the GM looks like Id have to place it by the battery compartment. I guesss the way sikky wired it.. I just wanted to confirm before anything..

damn , post some pictures if you can. my wiring is a tad bit too short i think.. as the clips for the GM ecu dont extend past the battery compartment. I am running a braille battery so i have room to secure the ECU there but... idk doesnt feel right.

I had to extend my positive and negative terminals on the harness.. they dont reach all the way to the battery.. I guess the way sikky did it? the shop is doing that.. it isnt that hard to extend but still

Agreed... The mods are just coming up with excuses. I don't think there should be an LS sub forum, but at least a swap forum. There is five or six swap threads on the first page of the E&D forum.

We are in the process of trying to make this happen. I believe step one was eliminating the WTB section from the marketplace.

yea my harness extends past the z ecu lol. ill post pics, but it looks like i have quite a bit of room. the only thing that was kinda short was my z coolant plug.

ps, my starter wiring has only the 1 purple wire. im making my main power wire for the battery-->starter-->alternator. theres 3 ports on the starter, which one do i use for the positive?

Mine is the purple wire on top, then the positive, negative on the bottom.

I am not sure what color mine was but i did have one wire that says " start " . I connected this to the starter. I removed the factory one, unbolted it and used the one sikky left open.

Alright, somebody correct me if I'm wrong here, but it seems like a fairly straight forward concept.

So the LS ECU is running the motor, the Z ECU is monitoring a few of the Z sensors on the LS motor so that the factory gauges work...

I'm guessing that the factory check engine light is still working from the Z ecu.... Is the check engine light going to be on all the time because the Z ecu isn't seeing all the Z engine sensors?

How does the check engine light work?

Has anyone adapted their swap to purely run in speed density yet? I'm looking into this right now. The OEM GM pcm, for the ls2 at least, uses a blended SD/MAF system, but I'm finding the stock MAF hits it's ceiling around 500-525 g/s. Which is roughly 470HP, so anything beyond that and your clipping the MAF. Unless you replace it with a larger one whcih doesn't really make sense in my head when you can just delet it and reduce your intake restriction and simplify your tuning.

My car will be running on MAP only. The standalone is making things much simpler for me. The standalone controls everything, just like it did with the VQ. No MAF, no GM ecu.

I have some things going on with wiring and the tach that may bear fruit. I want to make sure everything works before posting anything concrete on the process yet.

I'm using HP Tuners and the fully support the SD converion but I'm curious where, if at all, people are putting the IAT since it is part of the MAF in OEM form.

I will be using the stock IAT sensor off the Nissan, just making a place for it in the LS intake in the straight pipe.

Sure with a stand alone that will work great, for the GM pcm that wont probably pan out. I'd have to trace the schematics and check the pin outs.

Off topic or not, $5k is not too bad if you know everything is in good shape and depending on what you want to do. Lessons I've learned is the wiring harness isnt' that big of a deal to get with the engine. I had to have mine modified and it was missing key components like the relay and fuse block as well as the accelerator pedal harness. So by the time I modified mine and would have had to buy all the other supporting items I could have just bought a custom harness complete with everything. Point being if you can get it cheaper without the harness you may be ahead that way.

The GTO T56 has a really odd gear set. So if you're into racing you may want to source a different gear set. I personally like the ls1 camaro gear set for all around use, but there are lots of options.

What is your final goal with the project and what is it's intended use?
