i literally hate stealership for my life but i happen to buy my rear wheel bearings at Riverside Infiniti at the show because it was on sale. My car is 350z but G35 and 350z use same wheel bearings, i believe. I installed my rear wheel bearings after getting it pressed by Joe, Volkz. This was an easy job so everything went smooth. Torqued everything down. But now my rear bearings make sand grinding noise when i rotated it by hand, about 2 grinds per rotation after 2 days of driving. I called Riverside Infiniti and the guy told me to bring in.All freaking dealers say this and charge you later for some ****.Since Riverside is too far, i asked him if i can go to local stealers, he said it's fine and they shouldn't charge me for anything since it's under warranty. I called Irvine Infiniti and the guy over there told me they'll charge me $200 for f**ing diagnose fee
Now i need to take out the bearings myself again..fu..k Is it freaking normal to jack up the car and rotate the wheel by hand cost $200.
My only choice is now to take the bearings out and take it over to Irvine infiniti or another infiniti stealerhsip. Should i tell 'em that the bearing is for 06 g35 coupe instead of 05 350z? My bro has a g35 so doesn't matter which one i say. They'll highly likely to tell me that they'll not going to cover it under warranty because I put it on my 350z. i know that g35 and 350z share same wheel bearing part number but i don't want to take a chance of them making excuses.
Should i tell 'em that my mechanic installed it instead of i did? If i say that i installed, they'll say the noise is caused my me. If i say that my mechanic installed it, they'll tell me to take it to the freaking mechanic.
Teach me some strategies on getting a replacement.

i wasn't sure if i was suppose to post it in 350z General category or drivetrain.
EDIT: One more thing. I told the guy at Inifiniti that my mechanic friend and i installed because if i install it, warranty would be voided. The guy said something like "Did he go to Nissan or Inifiniti mechanic school? Is he a certified mechanic FOR nissan or infiniti?" What the hell does that have to do with installing a damn bearing?

all dealers always look for a way to not warranty stuff, just how they won't do the primary Air fuel sensors for me because of my test pipes. honestly you should of never mentioned you touched it, and they would of taken care of you.

Thats not true...most if not all dealers honor a parts warranty for a year, If you look on your invoice it'll say it somewhere. The only thing is your going to have to get the dealer you bought if from to honor the warranty. For instance... a Toyota Highlander has the same ABS sensor as a RX300 and if it goes bad, they're not going to ask what type of car it came off of... what they're looking for is are the part numbers the same. I worked at Toyota/Lexus for dealer 8yrs as a Master Certified counterman for both brands.. Nissan/Infiniti shouldnt be any different. The other thing that sucks is that your going to have to take the old bearings out and have them get inspected at Riverside... which is 99% a counterman looking to see if it was neglected. Call Riverside and ask what the parts warranty is if you can not find it on the invoice. Hope this help at all.

I called Riverside and he said any infiniti should honor the warranty.
Score! very nice... and they can make a reprint of your invoice. Their are very little parts billing system out there but the 2 major ones are Reynolds or AIT(not sure of the name). They can use the following to get you a copy of your invoice:
Part#
Customer number(usually found with a phone number)
They can get you a copy of it if your really need it... If any other Infiniti dealer will cover the warranty your going to need the invoice. See if Riverside can fax a copy to you.

Unless they're linked with other dealers... the customer number will not work. Each system has its own customer number database. I'd def ask for a fax of the invoice. Ask him if what other dealer is associated with Riverside(same owners).
one thing to know.. Riverside AND Irvine Nissan have employee members on this forum and both are very active... so posting the " should I tell them i did this or that" on a public forum may leave you with no help form them by exposingthis fact.
Just trying to help you out.
Best policy is usually honesty, and just asking for help usually goes a long way.
The answer to every question that goes unasked is ALWAYS no.. and most places will always give you worst case when talking oiver the phone.
I always get good deals by being nice and just ASKING for the deals straight up. I give them a chance to make a deal.
In this economy, people are used to folks WANTING to spend money, but they just CANT. ALot of ppl will tell you 200, and if you say "man, id love to do this.. and I really NEED to, but i just cant afford that.. I could afford XX.. is there anything you can do to meet that for me? " ..
just my 2 cents.. works like a charm usually.
Case in point, i bought knock off veilside and figured id install it myself to save money, but after it all fell apart becuase of poor quality, I asked Intense Motorsports for a big favor, and they did the work for me at a dramatically reduced price and also gave me a ridiculous deal on authentic veilside parts.
I didnt HAVE full price.. [period. If it was full price, there was no action. So they bit at the price I could afford and made some cash, plus have a customer that will sing thier priase all over the web.. so just a ew things to think about when dealing w any dealership.. etc.
If i Had asked them first, I would have saved 2 months time of BS.
Plus those dealers have parts guys that are big on the board.. but telling a manager there that you are a member here and that you support them by gettin your parts at thier store.. they can possibly liason the service advisor and get you out the door easier.

@bmcann hey thx for you good advice. I did know that riverside guys are active on forums but not irvine guys. ImO dealing with dealers is more difficult than dealing with private seller or vendors on popular forums. If the dealer over at Infiniti irvine says that they can't honor warranty because I installed it, I can't really say anything about it, can I? dealers are more strict than like the vendors here who deal with car enthusiasts
Bmcann... agreed but theirs things in place to help the customer, its the only advantage from buying from a dealer. If I had a quarter for every time something like this happened, wouldnt have to work. Good luck Riot.
