Default Differential: should i get an LSD?

i have a base model 06 350z and someone told me that i dont have the Limited slip differential. my question is should i get it...i like to drive around quickly around town and plan to eventually practice in some track days. what would be a big difference if i get an LSD installed, is there any cons to installing the LSD?

Nothing but upside to installing a real (aftermarket) LSD

Whether your car has the (useless) Viscous LSD or an open LSD depends on the trim level. Everything except the base got an LSD

An upgraded LSD will help dramatically in anything competitive. From the context of your posts, you probably wouldn't ever notice it on the street, so don't waste your money if won't ever take it out to a track.

competitive driving REQUIRES an lsd, if you do get one, get clutch type like kaaz, quiafe, etc. the factory viscous system is garbage

recently on hard starts, my tires spin a bit before grabbing traction

back then i didnt experience this problem

would this be a sign of my LSD going out? my tires are fairly new, less than a year old about 5000 miles.

or perhaps i need to have my alignment corrected? (on my 3rd set of wheels)

^ u sure its not wheel hop???

search on here for rear diff bushing leak...its a black silicone leak from the subframe bushing that holds the diff...

the stock vlsd is worthless i feel after about 50,000 miles and thats very subjective....its fluid and once it shears and becomes not so viscous then its an open diff from there.....i found it to break free quite easy..

no, its dirty diff fluid. ive had it happen to me a lot. once you swap it out, it feels great for 10k miles then it shakes again.

yeah i dont think its wheelhop. its def not vicious enough to be wheelhop

the spinning im referring to doesnt last all that long. on hard starts you hear a bit of tire squeal before i actually start moving. This isn't even on launches. This is only on hard starts.

My car didnt do this before. Only in the last year or so. Had the car for a little over 3 years. I'll look up on the rear diff bushing leaking.

I'll look into this too. This sounds like a possible remedy. Thanks

i say everyone should have an LSD installed on the Z ! its like a must if you want to enjoy your ride.
i personally have the Nismo LSD ,car feels great but i do suffer from terrible sounds coming out of the pumpkin , specially when i try to park...
i guess its something very common when u have a Nismo lsd

bump for an old thread but I had a question, would getting a kaaz 2way diff be enough for running drift runs but also support auto-x to?

you would not want a 2 way lsd for auto-x use

a 1.5 way would be the best of all worlds for combined drift/auto-x
