Pop the clutch 10-12 times @ 8,000rpm in 6th gear, that'll BREAK it in. ;-)

I just got a new engine on my 06 as well about a week ago, the original only had 33k miles on it and it was burning a quart every 1k miles. Anyway the break in process should had been explained to u at the dealership. But pretty much all there is to it dont go over 4k rpm and dont give it full throttle for the first 1,200 miles. Thats pretty much it.

i believe the motors are PRE broken in from factory testing to see if they are up to par b4 installing them into your car.

so if you like baby her for at least a G....then do what neox says.

Same break-in as for the new car. It's in the owners manual. Also in the Top 100 Questions thread.

Truth be told. you really only break in Bikes. I say 1000k is perfect to get the juices flowing b4 whipping it. Nothing more nothing less.

Any new car I get I do a bike break in on it and have never had an oil burner or anything wrong with any of my motors. Run it like you stole it for a small time, let it cool, and repeat. Do this 4 or 5 times and profit. Just bring it up quick, and let it come down quick, in gear so there's pressure against the rings. Breaking it in easy is the worst way to do it IMO

Two sides to this debate. Drive it like you stole it, or baby it for 1k miles. There is a website that shows how break it in like you stole it. And your owners manual also shows how to break it in the "baby" way. Don't know which side to believe, they both have their arguments. Personally, I never knew cars needed a break in procedure, so I drove it like crazy the first day i got it. Not until a few thousand miles did I find out there was a break it procedure haha. Or, you can take it a bit further, and drive under 4k rpm for 20k miles like the one guy on this forum haha

Just make sure you change the oil at least 2 or 3 times before its broke in. I got my new motor due to O/C, I changed oil at 300 miles, 400 miles after that and 500 miles after that. The first time I changed it (at 300 miles) the oil came out silver, the second time (at 700 miles) the oil only looked a little silver, when I changed it at 1200 miles the oil looked normal and very clean. I am very glad I changed the oil when I did to get all of the metal from break in out of my new motor and not leave it floating around my motor. Good luck

Despite admonitions that I was ruining my engine with my sedate driving style, it continues to perform flawlessly, as does the rest of the car.

I guess what you should gather from the responses is that there is no "right way" to break in an engine; do it how you want. Different people have different opinions.
