Default stuck 5th & 6th Gear

2nd tranny in the car today, took it on the local - everything was fine. then once on the freeway, i took it up a notch, then uh o! 5th gear wont engage, i couldnt even force it in, what can be a prob? syncrhos exploded w/out my knowledge? and needless to even mention 6th gear, i couldnt even find my 6th gear. wtf right?!?! im gonna call the service guy first thing tomorrow when i get a chance. do u guys think the shifter was installed incorrectly? cuz when i shake the shifter left and right the freeplay from neutral middle to left is more than neutral middle to right. feels like something gets in the way of the shifter when i try to push it to the right? so..answers anyone?!?! thx

What dealer did you go to? Monterey park is about 15 minutes from Performance Nissan and I don't think we had any tranny jobs in today at all.

If they dont take care of you bring it by us. We will.

Good luck!

you need to adjust your shifter guide plate. You can do that yourself, look at the rogue engineering short shifter instructions, theres a section on how to adjust the guide plate. Very easy.

some thoughts...at first i was afraid the mechanice had forgot to put tranny fluid in there, but i didnt think so, cuz 1stG-4thG is totally fine, just 5th and 6th is crazy stiff and it feels like im really hurtin the gears, but actually i have to push the **** down how u would have to get into reverse to get into 5th and 6th smoothly, so 60% its the guide place installed crooket? i will check tomorrow.

from what you describe it sounds like its definitely the guide plate.. the shifter mechanism has a small tab that prevents it moving further to the right unless you push the shifter down, that makes it an extra step for engaging reverse. it seems like your guide plate is just too far to the left requiring you to push down to have access to both 5th and 6th.. its a simple adjustment .. look at the instruction for the rouge shifter.. on page 8 it explains how to adjust it.. if you take in to get it fixed, needless to say, it would be safest to not even try getting into 6th

Another problem area is the little plastic cup that the shifter sits in. There is a rubber ring around the top of it. We have had to replac this cup often. We had this same problem at Daytona. If we got it into 5th we could get 6th.
