Default low rpm acceleration...???

2007 A/T 350z Enthusiast...try to go easy on me...looking to understand...

i feel like my car has poor acceleration with low rpms...i mean more so than usual...i understand the peak torque for the Z occurs at 4800 rpm...but i was just wondering how the car should perform for daily driving between idle and 2000 rpms...

i ask because i have read threads where z owners are getting great gas mileage in the city by not exceeding 2000 rpm when accelerating...also...i have a 98 maxima that does really well when only accelerating under 2000 rpm (obviously completely different engines)...but my car takes quite a while to even reach 30 mph when accelerating by not exceeding 2000 rpm...

is this normal???...

Your feelings are important. Unfortunately feelings are very subjective. To get the facts:

Run a dyno with air/fuel ratio. Very revealing.

Have Nissan do a complete performance diagnostic.

I've driven my '08 with the 5AT over 5K miles without going over 3000rpms, and I think it's got plenty of acceleration.

winchman...thanks for the info...the car seems to do really well under 3000...but i was just curious as to how it does around 2000...thanks...

davidv...thanks...how much would a performance diagnostic run...is that the typical $130 they charge to even take a look at the car...im guessin this should tell me if anything at all is not meeting the designed specs...is this correct...or is this just the diagnostic tool they connect to the car to see if any codes are being thrown...thanks...

I have a 07 5AT and it builds rpm pretty quickly least faster than I thought before getting the car. My car is pretty stocked but one thing I got fixed was the transmission mount and ever since I got it replaced accelerating from a dig feels way smoother and faster. I also came here on the same topic because I don’t build rpms really fast in 4th and 5th gear and I was trying to figure out if a tune alone would fix some of that, it’s not normal for me sometimes I don’t even realize how fast I’m going because my rpms build so fast
