It can only be the electronic type. Lots of good gauges out there, just depends on the look you are going for. Defi, Greddy, Bllitz all offer excellent gauges for example.

You can use a mechanical gauge, but you need a fluid isolator. By the time you add that cost, you might as well get an electronic gauge...

No, the isolator is there so that if there is a leak, it isn't fuel inside the car. The isolator line runs out at least to the other side of the firewall. If this configuration is used and the interior smells like fuel, then you'd have to have a severe leak under the hood...

I don't know if there is anything that really looks like stock. I'm using a Greddy EGT and a SPA dual digital gauge for boost and fuel pressure. All are electronic, and have peak hold feature as well as adjustable alarm feature. My EGT came from AA for a good price, and I got the SPA from Bimmerworld as they seem to have good prices on the SPA stuff.

I'm using Greddy gauges, EGT and Boost. I got the 60mm silver. At night, it lights up orangeish or whatever. Looks good in my opinion.

Gary I know what the isolator is ther for, but so far the only gauges we have used it in was Autometer......and in most cases, the owner complained of the fuel smell despite there being absolutely no leaks at all. Electronic is SO much easier to deal with and so much safer.....definately the way to go.

There are gauges that match pretty well...depends on your budget and what you are going for in terms of features (peak/hold, data playback, or just a simple gauge)
