Default 350Z Coolers

350Z Coolers

i think im getting close to pushing my car to the limit without having to worry about things blowing up.
i will be upping all my engine mods next summer, and so im gonna have to baby the engine and other parts of the car a bit to keep her happy. im looking around for all different types of coolers for the 350z.

to be more exact,

Engine Oil Cooler
Transmission Cooler
Rear Differential Cooler

i've heard that B&M is pretty good with engine oil cooler and transmission cooler, but i'd like some more input from other club members on that before i get anything.

also has anyone bought any sort of rear differential cooler for their 350z?

i heard nismo is coming out with a tranny cooler.

you can always make your own though. you can get many different size coolers online. they make them for tractors and all their parts, so there is a wide variet available

I'm gonna be building a custom oil cooler for my car using a lot of B&M parts once I get some time. They make some pretty efficient coolers to fit in smaller areas, and I'm gonna need that to fit one up front next to my intercooler.

B&M makes oil cooler kits for imports, but im not sure on the size specs which is why im asking around.

im sure your probably a hell of a lot more limited on space then i am with your intercooler.

but the B&M kits seem pretty small and easy to instal.

NISMO coolers are ridiculously expensive, and they don't work any better than the cheaper brands. Just paying for the name if you go with NISMO.

since we're relatively close to each other, we should work together to come up with a custom solution. I haven't decided whether or not to attempt a dry sump yet, but I know I want an oil cooler for sure. The Nismo parts are unbelievably expensive ($1250 for the oil cooler), and not any better that what we could come up with for a lot less money. I also have to design around an intercooler, as I intend to install twin turbos in the next year or two.

a comparable cooler of that small a size can be had for cheaper than $150 that nismo sets.

im not worrying too much about the steering fluid. i go in a straight line ne way.

b&m makes an oil cooler for 200 tops
and a trans cooler for 100 tops

but i have yet to see anyone who has them....this is getting annoying. i might have to be the dummy on this one and find out the hard way. buy and try.

still looking for a rear diff cooler. i know mine gets really really hot at the track.

for the oil cooler setups, are they all installed via sandwhich plate between block and oil filter? and the sandwhich plate has a thermostat which allows temp opening so the oil wont be under normal operatin temp. if so, it sounds extremely easy enuff to make, besides u can get air craft oil coolers for fairly cheap.

I believe this is the way it is usually done, although in our case, I think we need to remotely mount the oil filter, because the space in that area might be cramped if we add a sandwich plate. I'm changing my oil (yet again) this afternoon, so I'll have a better memory of the exact space available in that area.

it really is an easy thing to make.. you just need a 'radiator' for the cooling, the sandwich plate with thermostat, and some stainless steel connecting lines w/ fittings.
