Default Questions about VQ motors

Well first of all i am new to the 350z platform. I was in the 240sx and planning to move up. I dont have a 350z but i am planning to get one very soon. The one i might be getting is a 06 350z with a vortech supercharger. From what i know the previous owner blew the motor which damaged the head gasket, spark plugs melted and as well as one of the piston is gone. Since the spark plugs are melted which is pretty obvious that the car was running really lean and need to be tune. Are the stock 06 motor able to handle the vortech supercharger? My questions are.

1. Are all the 06 motors are Revup ?

2. If i got another 06 motor and replace the old one do i also have to replace the immobilizer as well?

3. Since there are 3 types or VQ motors. Which are De, Revup, and the HR. Would it matter if i put the De or HR in a 06 body? do i need to change out the harness, tranny, and etc.

4. Is it safe to have a vortech supercharger on a stock 350z motor to begin with or i need to upgrade pistons, bearings, rings and etc as well?

Thanks you in advance. Much help are appericated.

1) 06 is all Revup -- many had major oil consumption issues, so be careful!

2) Dunno about the immobilizer, but again, be careful of oil consumption on the new motor, too!

3) ecu will definitely have to be changed for the HR....variable exhaust timing, as well as dual throttle bodies

4) dunno.

Plenty of info for you around the forums; I highly suggest looking around.

That aside I will say that not all '06 engines had oil burning issues, but so many did that there's a TSB for it. Also, not all '06 engines were revups: only the 6mt had those.

Stock engines can run about 400hp before they start blowing up. You can run FI, but it has to be tuned. FI + no tune = retarded. If you're gonna have the engine out of the car anyway, I'd say build it up if you have the funds.

If you loved the S chassis you maybe disappointed with the Z33 platform. Sure, it's a newer, nicer, more solid car, but that's about it.

If you have a 06 manual u have a rev-up, if you have an 06 automatic you have a regular DE...Simple.

Whoops! Sorry about the mis-info on the Rev-up. I knew that in '05, only anniversary models got the Rev-up...thought they were all Rev-up in 06, but guess not.

Do note that it's impossible to find a used s/c kit for a revup though cuz almost no one has them, lol.

Thx a bunch guys! Well i am planning to a 06 350z 6speeds. The engine on that car is gone due to head gasket blown, spark plugs melted, and one of the piston is gone. That car originally have a vortech s/c on it and it will comes along with the car. Now obviously that the car was running lean because of the melted spark plug. Thats why i am wondering if the stock Revup engine would able to handle the vortech supercharger. To be honest i would want to get on it if i get everything fixed just to test out the speed then again i dont want the same thing to happen to me.

Also if i get a Revup engine and drop it in, i dont need to change out the ecu or the immobilizer for it to start right? Sorry for these noobs questions. I never done any vq engines before. The only other engines i have swapped out are the ka24 and sr20. Thanks again guys.

Nope. Drop in the motor and tune it.

No reason to change ECU, immobilizer is built into the ECU.

I the bottom end is damaged get an aftermarket block with forged internals as some one else said IPP sells them. That would be better than taking your chances with a used one and getting an oil burner. Also you could crank up the power on the vortech with a forged bottom end
