Awesome, Ya I remember reading about your "methods" involving your cluster, I didn't know if you were attempting anything else, thats cool. I'm determined to get my setup legalized and try to go from there. In all reality there are more than enough ways around that out here but if I can I will make the attempt. Never know when you will lose it that hook up...lol. Now that I'm home from work I'm going to check out your pics in this thread abit more carefully. Another quick question how feesible do you think it is to get the engine placed back further, what do you think it would take, how much of the kit would need to be re welded
^im registering mine in an area where theres no emissions. i registered it in madison saying i go to school there, and bam no emissions. i did this with my evo, my track 350z, and my integra. saves the hassle.

Fully legal may not be impossible, just impractical IMO. Besides... I live on the fringe
Could you share your info on getting the stock tach working. I'm attempting anonymity with the exception of the engine sound for my setup. Thx
I cannot offer info on how that works. Franz made it happen, I just gave him a pile of parts.
So Cass, It's been a while. How's everything holding up? I just picked up a 5.7 LS1 block this weekend. The build has begun. I will be contacting Franz for some work. Sounds like he did an awesome job with yours! Have you had any issues now that its been on the road for a few months?
Other than expecting it to blow up every time I drive it, since that is what it has done the past 3 years, everything is fine.
On warm days the oil temp gets to 180*F and will go to 200*F if I beat on it, but my buddies LS2 Vette runs @ 220*F normally so I don't see an issue. Since changing the clutch fluid to Motul I don't have a sticky pedal issue any longer either. Other than having an issue with keeping the battery charged it is rock solid and I drive it hard every time it leave the garage.
As soon as I get my DD and work van issues sorted it will be going in for new front tires, alignment and the custom AC lines.

Well I am about to go down this path. I nuked my VQ and within a week had an LS6 and a LQ4 truck motor sitting in my storage unit to prepare for this. No I don't need both motors but they came together with a bunch of other parts including a 2001 Camaro rear axle(no I am not swapping that in).
I will probably PM you guys who have done this with a few questions after I am done reading some of the other build threads.
I have been debating turning the LS6 into a 6.3L or putting LS3 heads on the LQ4 and making it a 6.6L. I really don't want to have to pull the engine back out later and tinker with it so I am going to get it all done before it goes in.
Has anybody here tried the Hinson coolant hose kit to fix some of the issues I have seen people having?
I am probably going to run the stock LS ECU and retune it with HP tune and ditch the stock gauges all together.
