Default Activities of the Oil in Various RPM Ranges

I have a question for those that know the answer: what happens to the engine oil at various RPM ranges, say 2k vs 6k? Does the oil "move" faster at higher rpm? Basically I want to know what the oil is doing at various rpms, if any at all. Thx

a clear answer is why the hell you have an oil pressure gauge in your dash ??
yes, it does. the oil pump pressurize the oil with in you engine and as high as the rpm goes, the oil pump keeps up with it.

does it makes sense now ??

The clearances in the various bearings and other openings doesn't change much if any at higher engine speeds, so the pressure goes up.

Of course, there's more heat being transferred to the oil that's sprayed on the inside of the pistons. The oil in the main and connecting rod bearings sees a lot more shearing, and that adds some more heat. All the added heat raises the temperature of the oil, the viscosity goes down some, and the thinner oil flows more easily through the engine.

Bottom line: For a brief excursion to higher RPMS, you'll just see a pressure increase. For a long run, the pressure will increase, then drop some as the higher heat input and available cooling establish a new balance. The pressure at idle and low speeds after a long run will be slightly lower until the oil reaches the normal temperature.

^ Thanks Winchman.

Basically my engine leaks oil because i can see the residue on my garage floor, although it's not excessive. So i was trying to find out whether high oil pressure causes the oil pan to "rumble" or something and thus would loosen up the oil filter, or something which may cause oil leak (other than the oil pan gasket at fault).

And also my oil pressure gauge reading is a little off. Sits at 30 psi idle after being warmed up, but under normal driving rpm ranges (no more than 4k), it will go up to 90-105 psi range...I use Mobil 5W-30 synthetic. I don't think it's a faulty oil gauge sensor b/c if it was faulty, it wouldn't move in "Ignition On" position and the needle would not idle @ 30 psi, which is normal.

The OEM oil press gauge is not accurate. not even close.

chick out the oil pressure sensor it's next to your oil filter closer to the front end.
I had the same issue swapped the sensor and the oil pan now it good.
oil pan gasket tends to leak it you are hammering the car too much.
