Default transmission rebuild vs replace

Hey guys I bought another 03z this year. It has 90k miles and the past 5k miles have shown some transmission issues. My last z had the tranny replaced before I bought it. This z was owned by a woman that didnt drive the car hard and never replaced the tranny. Im having grinding in third and forth if im in neutral attempting to choose either of those gears. The clutch engagement point is near the end so I think i will need to replace the clutch and flywheel as well.

Whats the general trend? Do most people get their transmissions rebuilt or replaced? and where do you usually find the best deal on either choice?

Any information will be appreciated.

Most people replace it with a CD009 trans, but if yuou already have one , you may try to rebuild it.

There are a couple of ways to go about it:

1. A transmission from a junk yard. Inexpensive but no guarantee as to miles or condition.

2. Rebuilt. Rebuilt to factory standards. Many times a rebuilt transmission will include a warranty.

For a good deal you should be active in your regional forum.
