Exclamation Too good to be true clutch.

Alrighty guys. So my completely stock Nissan 350z has lost all grip with the clutch, so it is time to fork the cash for a new one.

I'm looking for a clutch to get me moving again, I don't race this car. I don't track it, or anything of that sort. I just need it to get me to work again.

So I found a clutch on the infamous Ebay. And I need to know, if this is just a complete scam.

F1 - Racing Stage 1 Clutch Kit

Who ever can help me with this, or point me in a better direction. Many thanks in advance!

Consider the labor will most likely outweigh the cost of the clutch, why cheap out on the clutch itself? Last thing you want to do is crack it open again and absorb x2 labor.

Also don't forget the flywheel, because your stock one is toast and you can't resurface them. JWT clutch/flywheel combo is the best bang for the buck IMO.

@djamps: I agree, the labor will be hefty. VERY HEFTY. But a flywheel is included if I am not mistaken. And If I drive impeccably. And treat the clutch with respect. It should last me.

Looking at the initial link you provided I don't see any mention of a flywheel being included. +1 on the JWT being a great stock feeling clutch.

OP, if cost is an issue, why not just search the classifieds for guys that are upgrading and selling their stock setups

Thanks Cass. I will go take a peek at the classifieds, I didn't see any. But maybe it just needs another once over.

the stock flywheel is a dual mass setup and cant be resurfaced. i say jwt-tried and true easily the best clutch out there for the money

$419 for clutch plus flywheel is a deal. Be aware that shops may add a surcharge for BYO parts. Figure 20 percent.

I know a guy down at believe it or not, brakes plus who was recommended by a co-worker that suggested I try and find a BYO part. Since all his dealers would give terrible rates.

He's a good guy.

You may want to consider a heavier aftermarket flywheel, if you're looking for driveability closer to stock. I hear JWT is good, but on the lighter side (unless that's what you're looking for) and contributes to chatter a bit more. Southbend has a heavier flywheel aiming to reduce chatter. Just my 2 cents.

Just curious why the dual mass flywheel shouldn't be resurfaced? Brought my buddy's flywheel to our "family" machinist who has been doing our work for the past 30 years. Besides saying it was difficult to set up, he said the whole process went smoothly. The clutch was replaced ~ 20k miles ago. Not an issue as of now...

According to that, a competent machinist can resurface a dual mass without issue. Finding that competent machinist is the problem...

I think its a cost prohibitive issue with the machining. If you know someone or can set up a grinding table yourself ( I would think the diameter is too large for a lathe) then maybe its worth it.

Members has given technical explanations, but the OEM flywheel is not designed to be resurfaced. Machinists familiar with cutting a one-piece flywheel will say no.
