Default Project 600zilla - LS2+T56 350z swap

Hey guys,
I've been lurking and chiming in randomly the past few months and I figured it's about time to start a build thread.

I've started with a 2006 Base 6MT which I am still DDing until all parts and plans have been acquired. Here are a couple pics of the car (don't worry, I installed 06+ OEM style LED tail lights months ago)

Here is a sneak peek at the big pile o' parts:

Will post up more pics as more stuff arrives and progress is made.

Haters... just paint everything blue, that's what I did and it came out GREAT The grill has to go though.

I wonder how long it will take for them to become "cookie cutter" builds and have shop threads with a list of "must have" components to make power.

I'm loving that our little group here are all sharing info back and forth and everyone has a slightly different setup than the next guy. So far only one fatality (Quamen's engine).

What is that suspension setup? Looks like coilovers up front and struts and springs in the rear, or do I have it reversed?

What mount kit are you using? Fueled is in Tempe and has an awesome kit. Best out there in my opinion. lmk if you need help getting your hands on one.

You guys crack me up. Like I mentioned previous, those hideous tails are already gone. 06 LED tails FTW! Enkei RPF1s should arrive any day now and the front will get changed out eventually.

DG-5 coilovers. You're right. Coilovers up front, OEM style rear.

That was in San Fernando Valley, CA. I made a deal for a CF 07-08 hood and CF hatch and did the swap at the seller's house. I live in Vegas but I'm between Vegas and Tucson, AZ a lot.

I ordered my kit through Todd @ Fueled about 2 months ago. I agree it's the best designed swap kit out there but it's but nothing but delays. It has lead to some of my frustration but I'm exercising as much patience as I can. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt at this point so until then I'm just waiting. I really hope the wait is worth it. I got the full kit plus the fuel and clutch kits.

As progress is made, I will definitely be asking you guys for assistance. I've been planning everything the best I can. The biggest hurdle that I've come across is the wiring. From what I understand, there many different ECU pin configurations amongst 350z's which hinders a true plug n play solution. My goal is have as much of the factory chassis features to work with the swap. Seeing that your factory tach and DBW pedal work gives me hope that I will be able to do the same. Can I assume that a lot of that has to do with the ViPEC ECU?

That is all through the vipec ECU and the factory can bus system. It really depends on where you want to spend money. You can tune perfectly with the factory GM ECU on HP tuners and run NO2 and boost on the factory ECU's. Vipec's are a really good ecu but do you want to spend the money on one of those ECU's just to have the factory gauge cluster work? All of the other functions work with the GM ECU well at least with the harness the company i work for builds. And the GM throttle pedal bolts right in place of the stock pedal, so does the 240sx if you are using a throttle cable like me .

But when it comes to the wiring your options are this
1. use the factory GM ECU and use a aftermarket solution for your tach. Everything else still works without the can bus system. AC, fans, speed, oil pressure, volt, ect
2. buy a stand alone vipec, motec something with outputs to the factory cluster and pay for wiring for the factory can bus system which is uselss

Easy Brew, he still needs to pay for wiring either way.

Does HP Tuners have traction control, launch control, meth injection and/or boost control, flat shift, anti-lag and the ability for your dash idiot lights to work?

I'm not trying to sell ViPecs here, its what I had and its damn good for ANY application. I truly wanted my car as stock as possible and that is how I chose to spend money. Maybe there is a reason why my car is up and running and others are waiting for harnesses or parts.

You do harnesses and want the business, I get that. Franz @ Diebold does the same. It all comes down to what the owner of the car wants and how they want to spend money.

I love the vipec ECU's and we build harnesses for them as well. Just got done with a killer LSX ITB setup for a customer off of zilvia.net But what i was getting at which i did not mention is if your only reason for wanting a stock tach to read you should not get the vipec there are other ways around getting a tach to work (im testing my some ways on my stock cluster) and i know some of the people may not have the money for a vipec unit.

Spoke to Todd @ Fueled Racing. There was a bit of a shipping SNAFU but all is sorted. The bulk of the kit should arrive this week. Headers are still another week or 2 out.
