I just tore the motor down last night. There is a crack around the alignment pin from the block to the head on both the inner and outter part of the block going to the water jacket. I'm by no means a block repair expert but I don't think it's fixable. To weld it up you'd have to cut out a major section of the block, weld the inside crack and then weld the major section back in. There's a lot of room for things to go wrong.

The next task is to figure out why there's a crack there.

Good luck finding the cause of the crack. Don't want to be repeating that

I have a LS2 longblock I'm looking at parting out, if you're interested.

Couple small updates...
I have just got new LS3 valves for my heads, they're about 20g lighter per intake valve than what I have.

I am looking high and low for a forged crank and cannot find one with the 3.622 stroke....so I'm stuck there for now.

The heads are rebuilt and even got a little porting done to them! I've also got an entire short block (in pieces) ordered....

GM LS2 block
K1 Tech crank (stock stroke, 51 lbs)
K1 Chevy Supreme rods (507grams and rated for 7600 rpms)
Mahle pistons 398 grams, 4.000 bore, -4cc vol., (lightest I could find)
ARP main studs, all new gaskets, Clevite bearings, blah blah blah.

Hopefully by the end of Sept I can have something close to running.

Cheers!

Looky looky!

I degreed the cam last night and checked PTV. I'm just waiting on all the block plugs to finish sealing it up then she goes back in. Hopefully much more easily since I've done most of the other work with the first engine.

Well I didn't open the wallet but I opened the baffels with a die grinder. Then I cleaned the hell out of them. I'm let them sit over night and I'll test fit them tonight and see how it looks. Otherwise it needs the oil pan on and it's basically ready to go back in...again....again. Okay it's been in and out probabaly 20 times, fine I said it!

Well I didn't get as much done over the weekend as I hoped but I now have the engine back in the car and the drive shaft bolted up. I did forget to put the plug into the dipstick hole in the block. So I need to run one of those down tonight. Aside from a few wiring things and some minor heat shielding the rest should go pretty fast.

Well more car drama and progress. Tried to bleed the slave cylinders and it was leaking. Pulled it apart to find the CSC was cracked, brand new too. So that's on order and should be here this week with any luck.

I also noticed the crank pulley is chipped so I am getting a ATI super damper on order as well. Since I am waiting on parts today I decided to work on some other areas of the car.

APR 3" studs and Ti Lugs.

SPL front bushings,

I finally got my second new CSC, put it in and it's leaking too. It appears that this one is leaking from the fittings. It was getting late so I called it quits for the night so I'll pull it apart again tonight and see what's actually going on.

On a positive note the bushings have been pressed and are back in the car and I think the new harmonic balancer should be in tonight. So pending yet another disaster I'm just stuck on this damn CSC.
