since i´m doing my oil cooler install by the end of next week i just wanted to make sure that i´m doin it right the first time!
so do you guys have any info on what to do and what not? maybe we should make a sticky with how to does or something similliar.
what i really need to know is what type of teflon tape to use on the fittings and how much to use.

do NOT use teflon tape on an fittings never ever it will prevent a seal. seems counter intuitive but they seal on the flare not the threads.

theres more ways to do it then i can count in a day. personally i use a hacksaw and painters tape with the hose held in a vice to cut the hose to length, make sure its straight!

trim excess stainless threads with some sort of tin snips or something similar make sure they are sharp. then just thread the bottom section on until it is completely seated then thread in the actual fitting portion. tighten in a vice with a cloth of some sort to protect the fitting.

personally i dont like a cutoff wheel like what the honda tech thread shows it tends to make a mess of the braid. with the hack saw i usually get like two long pieces of stainless thread on on side and then im good. also ive never needed lube but all my fittings have had a flare on the end that get them started in the hose and dont actually start to tighten the hose until about 1/4 of the way threaded in.

i absolutely despise assembling stainless braided lines. have you tried pushlock stuff? it is incredibly easy, cheaper, and lasts just as long.

if you cut the SS braide cleanly, you shouldnt have any problems with sore fingers.

I think i only stuck myself 1 time and that was on the 1st set of hoses I built.

advice - use really sharp cutters to cut the line so that the line doesnt fray. Use a dab of oil on the threads when screwing the two halves together. If you need a custom line done and done want to do it your self PM me we carry everything from -3AN to -20AN and use the black nylon braided covered SS line.

i always wrap the hose in tape before I cut it with a chop saw.

no fray, square cuts, easy install.

most of my sore fingers are from twisting on the fingers and holding the hose not getting stuck. but then again i dont have the koul tools. like the chop saw idea though, wish i had room for one lol
