Default gear change smoother with full tank fuel?

I put full tank fuel in my Z for the first time and i noticed right away that the car is smoother. Gears change smoother and everything is just smoother.

I googled it to find this.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...ll-tank-3.html

my guess is that with full tank fuel, there is more equal pressure for the fuel to get into engine. So engine is smoother. Smoother engine means that the engine doesn't struggle when giving it gas during clutching. Hence I noticed that going from stop to rolling (in gear one ofcourse) it much smoother with full tank fuel.

Whats your take on this guys?

Equal pressure...? If you don't have stable fuel pressure output, I'd be angry at your fuel pump.

I've continually been informed that Australian folks were dumb as dirt. The purveyors of this scandalous slander never gave a shred of proof, and I always rejected it outright.

Then this post happened!

Just kidding; love the Aussies.

Maybe the added weight smoothed out your clutch skills... See what its like with a full tank and a passenger

^^^ hahahahaahahha maybe this theory is true!

maybe all these all it was missing a more weight to make your shifts perfect.

+1 on the bushings being shot...*if* you really could tell a difference.

The transmission will feel smoother if it's not bucking back/forth/up/down/etc. Stiffer motor mounts (or replacing shot ones) may improve shift feel for this reason.

I "felt" that my car shifted smoother after coilovers, which I attributed to the lack of nose-dive and squat under braking/throttle...

If having a full tank truly makes a difference for you, it's due to worn bushings/dampers and/or weight shifting (more weight in back), not fuel pressure.

haha damn some guys are so hell bent on showing their superiority.

correct me if im wrong, no need to be a D**K about it. haha

but yea i guess it could be the extra weight that has made the car more stable.

When the fuel is low and i 'make' myself stall (on purpose), the car shakes more and chokes before stalling. I did this a few times just to know at which point the car stalls fully.

with full tank, it doesn't shake as much. And this i guess would be due to added weight.

And hence why gears "feel" like they change smoother. haha.

yes?

It is highly unlikely that there is anything to a full tank making a difference on shift feel, especially nothing to do with fuel pressure. I just like brainstorming.

try installing an engine torque damper, the shifting will be a lot smoother.

I agree with the OP, for all you guys saying bushings you are really being pretty descriptive...I guess since the OP actually research the issue and you say NO it's one or more of the 100 bushings on the car..

I don't agree with your assumption OP unless there is something wrong with your car

If anything, I have noticed the car being smoother and accelerating quicker with a 1/4 tank due to the lighter weight of fuel

It's most likely a placebo effect for both of us though
